O.J. Simpson’s estate has made headlines after rejecting a $15,000 offer from Kim Kardashian for her late father’s Bible, which has now been sold for a staggering $65,800 to an anonymous buyer. The Bible, originally gifted to Simpson by Robert Kardashian, was auctioned on March 29 through Golden Auctions.
In a statement to People magazine, an executive from Simpson’s estate explained that the offer was simply not viable, saying, “Why would I spend $15,000 of estate money… to sell it to Kim for $15,000?” He elaborated that the logistics and costs associated with contesting the auction contract would outweigh the benefits of selling the item at such a low price. Instead, he suggested that Kim could purchase the Bible from the auction, where it was initially listed at a starting bid of $9,800.
The Bible carries significant historical weight, featuring a handwritten inscription from Robert Kardashian to O.J. Simpson dated June 18, 1994, just a day after Simpson’s arrest for the infamous murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman. While Simpson was acquitted in a highly publicized 1995 criminal trial, he was later found liable in a civil case in 1997, further solidifying the Bible’s value as a piece of legal and cultural history.
As the Kardashian family continues to navigate their connections to this tumultuous chapter in American history, it remains to be seen how Kim Kardashian will respond to the final sale of her father’s treasured item. E! News has reached out for comments from her representatives but has not yet received a response.
