Mickey Rourke explains his dramatic ‘Celebrity Big Brother UK’ exit after clashing with castmates

Mickey Rourke has opened up about his dramatic exit from “Celebrity Big Brother UK,” taking full responsibility for his behavior that led to his removal from the show. In a recent statement, the retired boxer and actor referred to himself as a “work in progress,” acknowledging that he “stepped over the line” and lost his temper. Rourke expressed shame over the incident, emphasizing his ongoing efforts to improve his self-control.

The controversy erupted when Rourke clashed with fellow contestant Chris Hughes, during which he reportedly yelled at Hughes to stop “eyeballing” him. He also made derogatory comments toward Ella Ray Wise, predicting a negative future for her. Although tensions escalated, sources confirmed that the situation did not turn physical, and security intervention was not necessary. However, the fallout from Rourke’s actions was significant, leading ITV to reduce his reported €500,000 paycheck after his early exit.

The situation had been brewing prior to this confrontation, as Rourke faced backlash for homophobic remarks he made towards Jojo Siwa. He suggested that if he tied Siwa up, she would no longer identify as gay. Siwa confronted him about the comments, which she labeled as homophobic, leading to an emotional breakdown. Rourke later issued an apology and received a warning from producers, but the incident sparked outrage online, prompting actress Bella Thorne to share her own negative experiences with him during the filming of the 2020 movie “Girl.”

In light of these events, Rourke has reiterated his commitment to personal growth, acknowledging the need for change and emphasizing that he is actively working on himself.
